Thank you for posting this at the perfect time! I first saw this last year and was so struck by how well it illustrated our "linear" system of consumption. Fed up with the mindless, wasteful consumer aspect of Christmas gift giving, our family no longer exchanges gifts which are not hand- or homemade.
